About this 3D model

i wanted to create wired animal like Dotsan do in shapeways. http://www.shapeways.com/model/902138/wired-life-stag-large.html?materialId=6. i use sketchup,improt a stag moudle,and reduce edge by hands. Did anyone can teach me some auto-way to make a wired 3D moudle.
