Yet both put their bodies into a form of stasis that would prevent the diseases spread, yet it did not shield their minds. Dissonant whispers filled Frederik’s head from that day onward, and the whispers have never stopped. He knows now that Bastian’s goal was noble, and just, but his methods were foolish. He hopes that he can perhaps continue his late friend’s research, but in a manner that is less devastating to the world. The Head of House Aurveil, Frederik Vahlen is regarded among both faculty and students as a brilliant man, who suffered a great deal when Dragonblight took hold of the city of Canos. Bastian was known to be Frederik’s close friend and confidant, and many thought that it was a blow to Frederik for his friend to betray him in such a manner. Indeed, at the time Frederik did feel betrayal, and still feels it through the body that he lost to the disease. Yet, two years on, the Dragonblight stays in stasis upon his body, with Frederik unsure what might happen to him should he bring it from stasis. The tissue in others died off when Hendrak was destroyed, but from his own research, it seems that it may have mutated, operating without a hivemind to control its whims. In secret, he has used this stasis induced tissue to further study the disease in the vaults between Noxas Block, developing his own alternative strain. It is here that he made the Konnigsratte, and has inadvertently infected several students across the campus, of which he has been forced to abduct and keep as test subjects until he can devise a cure, if one can ever truly exist. In his mind, he fights a difficult battle, however. Whispers in his mind, a familiar voice that he cannot place, speaking to him of the peace that can be attained with Dragonblight. That Bastian’s goals and even Hendrak’s, were noble, but fraught in a path paved in blood with no care for the peoples of Minera, should they achieve them. The voice tells him now that he can achieve what they sought, but can do so while minimizing the blood spilt for his cause. It is because of this that Frederik wears a sour and pained look at all times, though many mistake this as pain he endures from the injuries he sustained.
