The look to the Antiquity is constant in the world of Roman plastic. In monumental sculpture, the Corinthian order is used with full awareness of its symbolic value, establishing an explicit dialogue with the Roman past, glorious and mythical. Of the group of capitals of Besalu, the three Corinthians stand out, which, despite the dry execution and a certain schematism in the definition of the acanthus leaves, show a vigorous body and a surprising play of light and shadow, thanks to the ability of the sculptors with the trepan.
