About this 3D model
This male ancestor statuette of the bembe type is characteristic of the eponymous ethnic group of the current Democratic Republic of Congo. There, the ancestors maintain close ties with the living. Exposed on altars, they receive offerings, especially to call their protection against evil witchcraft. This wooden altar statue, 16.5 cm high, is engraved with geometric incisions on the abdomen. It was produced by the Bembe ethnic group, certainly in the 19th century.
