The head of the statue is antique but has been heavily resored in the modern period and mounted on a body of Hercules.The work is usually described as “Albani collection” in the Louvre’s catalogues and inventories, but was actually confiscated from the Braschi collection. The crates containing works confiscated in Rome were stored together, leading to confusion upon their arrival in Paris.
