Headstone of Marcus Traianius Gumattius, once built into the tower of Dodewaard. The inscription reads: 'Marcus Traianus Gummattius, sun of Gaisio, veteran of the cavalry of the Africans, placed this stone by will'. Marcus Ulpius Traianus Maior (c. 30 AD – before 100 AD; Latin: Maior, "the elder") was a Roman senator who lived in the 1st century. He was father to the Roman Emperor Trajan.
