This digital sculpture is based on an original hand-carved barn owl stone sculpture, later digitally scanned and prepared as a printable STL file. The owl is rendered in a smooth, flowing form, emphasizing calm, watchfulness, and restraint rather than anatomical detail. The owl rests on a burnt wood post, whose dark, textured surface contrasts intentionally with the refined, polished presence of the owl above. This contrast — light and dark, smooth and raw — is central to the piece, evoking a quiet, mysterious stillness often associated with nocturnal birds and liminal spaces. While inspired by the barn owl, the sculpture remains interpretive and sculptural in nature, leaving room for imagination rather than strict realism.
