About this 3D model
This head was part of a herm, originally connected on the left side to another herm. The portrait is that of the Greek historian Herodotus of Halicarnassus (480-435 BC). The identification is secure on the basis of comparisons with other known inscribed portraits of Herodotus. This copy, dated to the 2nd century A.D., derives from a postumous portrait of the first half of the 4th century B.C.
