Eurystheus' daughter coveted the golden belt of Hippolyta, the queen of the Amazons. When Hercules (Heracles) succeeded in convincing the queen to give him her belt, Juno (Hera) spread a rumour that the hero wanted to kidnap Hippolyta. A battle ensued.
