This marble statue possibly depicts James the Lesser. The identification of James is complicated, because there are already two apostles called James, but most people interpret him as "James the Just", Jesus's brother (not maternal, either a cousin, or a step-brother from Joseph's previous marriage). The left hand originally held a book.
