About this 3D model

This is one of many 3D designs made by my 3rd grade students. Students worked in small groups and used the engineering design process to solve their client's problem. This group's client was a classroom teacher that was getting sick and tired of students sharpening pencils in the middle of lessons and quiet reading time. She wanted a way to prevent students from using the loud sharpener without having to unplug it. The students' design sends a clear message and solved the teacher's problem nicely.
