Eduard Gerhard (1795-1867)was a classical philologist and archaeologist. In 1829, he initiated and co-founded the Instituto di Corrispondenza Archeologica in Rome, late the German Archaeological Institue. From 1855 to 1867, he was the director of the Sculpture Collection in Berlin's University.
