In ancient Roman religion, Ceres (or Cerere) was a goddess of agriculture, grain crops, fertility and motherly relationships. In this statue, she is offering the crops with her left hand. Antonio Solá (1780-1861) was a Catalonian sculptor who belonged to the neoclassical school.
