In Greek mythology, Andromeda is the daughter of the Aethiopian king Cepheus and his wife Cassiopeia. Her mother boasts that she is more beautiful than Nereids, which angers Poseidon and he asks for her as sacrifice to appease a sea monster. She is saved last minute by Perseus on his Pegasus, a winged horse.
