Alexander Burganov (born 1935) is a Russian sculptor, a National Artist of Russia, and a member of the Russian Academy of Fine Arts. His art is generally abstract and often uses fragments of human or animal bodies (especially horses) to build a bigger picture. Mikhail Bulgakov was a Russian writer and physician, who is best known for his piece The Master and Margarita. A lot of his work, including the aforementioned, was written in a style called magical realism, which is wonderfully reflected in this portrait of the man.
