Lever was forty-nine when this portrait bust was carved. By then his company lever Brothers was an internationally successful business. Lever was a friend of the sculptor Onslow Fordo and purchased several works from him. Some of them are on display in this room. This image of Lever captures his sense of purpose and dignity.
