Head of Serapis originating from 2nd Century AD Rome. Provenance: Found in Akhmin, Egypt, in 1904Sold in Drouot, Paris, in April 1905, lot 457, by P. Philip at Me. Lair-Dubreuil's auction house, appraised by M. BlingAcquired at the sale by M. René Gimpel, then passed down within the same family, conserved in the family residence of Ménerbes, Procence.
