About this 3D model

This 17th Century sculpture of Dionysus in the Boncompagni Ludovisi Collection was executed to match an ancient statue of the god. The desire to make an archaeological fake is made clear by the use of marble fragments to simulate the restoration of an ancient torso. Inspired by a work by Praxiteles from the 4th Century B.C., the statue also reveals a familiarity with the Bacchus statue attributed to Michelangelo.
