Model and Mold for Making Speedo Buttons for a Smart Roadster How-To Guide Option 1: Print the Model Directly The model can be printed directly in a flexible material like TPU or similar. Option 2: Print the Mold This option requires more effort but results in a high-quality finish. Print the mold in PLA (or ABS if you want to vapor-smooth your mold). Coat both mold parts with a lubricant. Mix your silicone—I used a two-component silicone. Pour the mixed silicone into the larger part of the mold, filling it completely. Let air bubbles rise, then place the other half of the mold on top. (Do not wait too long; the silicone must still be fluid.) To align the two halves, use two 6mm bolts and tighten them gently to secure the mold while curing. Once cured, disassemble the mold, remove the part, and trim any excess silicone.
