About this 3D model
Charles IX (1550-1574), in reality a feeble king, has been lent dignity by the laurel wreath and armour in the classical style. Pilon was the leading sculptor of the period in France. The marble pedestal is a 19th century copy of the altar-supports in the chapel at Anet, the chateau built for Diane de Poitiers, mistress of Henri II (Charles IX's father); it bears her crescent emblem.
