This is a relief depicting the crest of the Scaligeri (or della Scala) family, who ruled Verona through 13th and 14th century. The family's most prominent members rest in a mausoleum called Arche Scaligere in Verona, the building serves an example of prime Italian gothic architecture and proves the power of the family.
