This bust of Homer is carved in the Apollonius of Tyana type. It is a Hadrianic copy (AD 117-138) of a Greek original at the end of the 4th Century BC. Apollonius of Tyana was a Greek Neopythagorean philosopher from the town of Tyana in the Roman province of Cappadocia in Anatolia.
