Formerly, the phalera with the portrait of Caracalla probably was set upon a standard of the imperial Practorian Guard. The Emperor wears the corona of the sun god Sol, as a symbol of rulership of the world. This illustrates his claim to sole emperorship after the murder of his brother Geta.
