About this 3D model
This is a monument to Astrid of Sweden (1905 – 1935), who was Queen of the Belgians as the first wife of King Leopold III. By birth she was a princess of Sweden and she was queen for less than two years, dying in a car accident at age 29. This piece was made by George Minne (1866 – 1941), who was a Belgian artist and sculptor famous for his idealized depictions of man's inner spiritual conflicts. He perfectly captured the tragic death of the young woman in a gentle rendition of a caress in stone. The inscription says: "As a reminder of Queen Astrid, lady and mother."
