A fast-to-print reusable spool adapter ring for using cardboard spools in the Bambu Labs AMS, AMS 2 Pro and AMS HT, with profiles for 0.4mm, 0.6mm and 0.8mm nozzles. Features: Prints reliably without supports. Attaches securely without glue. Prints in under 9 minutes with a 0.4mm nozzle (7 minutes with a 0.8mm nozzle). The print time is dependent on the type of filament and its max volumetric speed . Uses less than 6g of filament with a 0.4mm nozzle. Works reliably in the AMS. Installs easily (can be done one-handed: push-click on). Works with cardboard spools that have damaged edges (cardboard delaminating, frayed, dented, bent etc). Works with damaged plastic spools (cracked, broken edges etc, as long as the damage isn't too significant). Can be removed and re-used for other spools. Can be easily XY scaled to fit other size cardboard spools. Doesn't obscure any of the holes around the edges of spools for securing filament. Tested with cardboard spools from: 3DHoJor 3DQF (use the 3QDF profile, which is XY scaled by 97%) Alzament Anycubic (use the Eryone profile, which is XY scaled by 98.5%) Canadian Filaments Comgrow Creality Creator (use the Eryone profile, which is XY scaled by 98.5%) Deeplee Duramic Elegoo (there's a lot of variation in the size of Elegoo spools. The standard profile ( no XY scaling ) or the Tighter Fit profile ( which is XY scaled by 99.5%) seem to fit most Elegoo spools. eSun Eryone (for new Eryone spools use the standard profile. Snapmaker Sovol Spool3D It should also be fine with cardboard spools from other filament vendors including: Filamentive Filaments.ca Jayo X3D Ziro Please let me know if it works with spools from other vendors or needs to be scaled for spools from other vendors. I suggest printing in PETG for spools of low temperature filaments (PLA etc) and ASA, ABS or PC for higher temperature filaments, so that you can leave the spool rings on when you dry a spool. PLA works ok for low temperature filaments but may shrink/loosen/distort when in a filament dryer over time. My personal preference is PC for its high temperature resistance and fast printing. After attaching each ring, check that the inside edge of the spool is sitting inside the ring all the way around. If it won't pop into place (normally because the edge of the cardboard is damaged or the ring is a very tight fit) then put the spool on a flat surface and run the wide part of a flat blade screwdriver around the edge of the inside of the spool to push the cardboard into place. If the ring (printed with any of my profiles) hits the AMS lid when the lid is closed then it's because: The 100% scale profile can hit the lid when used with some cardboard spools . If this happens (these spool rings only add 1.6mm to the spool diameter [0.8mm each side], which is as little as possible without them being fragile) and you've checked all of the following dot points then I recommend that you use an AMS lid spacer or re-spool onto a plastic spool (Bambu Lab spools are ideal). Check the following: The inside edge of the spool is sitting fully inside the ring, all the way around; The inside of the ring is cleanly printed (eg there's no blobs which need some post-processing to remove); The AMS rollers are fully seated; The base of the AMS (the part that holds the rollers, feeders etc) is properly seated in the AMS housing; The spool is aligned properly in the AMS and is sitting cleanly on the AMS rollers.
