About this 3D model
The bust has been sculpted by Corpeaux in 1862 during the artist’s stay at the Princess Mathilde salon in Paris. After winning the Prix de Rome, Carpeaux remained a while in the city to then go back to France and to Paris. This bust confirmed his reputation and established him at imperial court as an affirmed artist. The bust combines imperial clothing with majestic drapes and decorations, and a pearl necklace. The sculpture is a perfect example of how the artist Carpeaux was able to join baroque influences with romantic’s passion.
