About this 3D model

This is a print in place filter holder designed to make it easy to make filters using material like Baader Astro Solar film. It's designed to screw into 72mm lens mounts. It's not threaded with the idea that the first few uses will tap a thread onto the filter holder. You'll need a fair bit of support as both plates start printing off the bed. I will use interface support. So far the print is untested. I'll be printing it in the next few days. Update: 12/6/17 Rejigged the model to replace the hinge with a simple slot and groove. Means the part can be printed in two pieces, and reduces the need for support and high accuracy printing. Update 13/6/17 Added a version for 77mm filter threads. This one should have a little more clearance for the thread, and includes nice fillets on the inside edge to try and avoid putting any presssure points on the solar filter. I've also given the clamps a little more clearance (0.1mm) as they were quite tight. If you find the clamps too tight or too loose, just scale up or down the clamps slightly in your slicer.
