Model Description:This download contains a highly detailed model of a Valentine Mk. III. This version of the model features side-skirts, which would be present in the North Africa campaign. Documentation and references for the real vehicle were rigorously studied to make the model as geometrically accurate as possible, except in the cases where printability would have to be sacrificed (such as the fender thickness). Historical Description:The Valentine was an infantry tank produced in the United Kingdom during World War 2. The vehicle was developed by Vickers with over 8,000 being produced over 11 variants. The vehicle was used by the British in North Africa, and many were exported to the Soviet Union under the Lend-Lease program. The vehicle featured significant armor for its weight of only 16 tons, with up to 75mm of protection. The vehicle was very slow however, topping out at 24km/h (15mph). This was not seen as a problem due to the nature of an infantry support tank though. The Valentine Mk. 3 was a relatively early version of the vehicle, being equipped with the 40mm 2-pounder quick-firing (QF) cannon. The 2-pounder was seen as adequate in the anti-tank role, however due to the low caliber the weapon did not have anti-infantry capabilities in the form of high-explosive shells. This was a major weakness, particularly on a vehicle designed for infantry support. Later versions of the Valentine would be up-gunned to the 6-pounder (57mm), or even 75mm cannons. In Armored Advance:In armored advance the Valentine Mk. III is a slow vehicle with good survivability for its point cost. Unfortunately, this is offset by the vehicle's low speed and relatively weak cannon which lacks anti-infantry capabilities and does poor damage to other vehicles, requiring the Valentine to leverage its survivability to stay on the front and continuously chip health off the opponent.
