Yet Another F***ing Reusable Filament Spool started as a project to learn Fusion 360 and have STEP files for my filament spools… you know, because OCD is fun. But, it evolved to meet my needs. Built-In Filament Clip I hated keeping track of the clips and the holes in other spools made the excess filament rub against my dry box. So, I incorporated the loop into the lip of the spool with just enough tension to keep it snug and prevent unraveling. Breathable, Snug Silica Jar Slot I really like @AdamL 's Silica Gel Jar remix from @gdrag 's original model , so I reduced the ID to fit snugly around that jar. Then it occurred to me that by adding some vents the desiccant would be more effective in the battle against moisture. Cool. Filament Swatch Labels I like swatches. I like labels. Keeping track of what filament is now a little easier and hopefully, I can avoid the ‘guess that was the PETG’ situation again. Bambu Lab Spool Nub Put a hole in that damn thing and now it can be used nicely with or without Bambu Lab spools. The hole, just like the holes in the lip of the spool, put tension on the filament and hold it while you respool. Very nice. A+ Honeycomb Storage Wall I friggin' LOVE my HSW from @RostaP ! Thus, I made the flange hexagonal pattern match the dimensions of the walls (sans thickness, because that would be too thick). Swoon. What Else Remaining Filament Gauge - I don't trust these and don't find it useful; instead, I weigh my spools and math my way around. If you think it would be worth adding a version with this incorporated, let me know. Missing Filament Type Labels - I made swatch labels for the filament I currently have on hand. If you want me to make a label, let me know. Or, you can use the attached Fusion 360 file to make your own. I used the Revamped font from Chequered Ink ( converted to TTF ). Threads for Silica Jar Lid - I tried to make the inner chamber be the silica jar and provide lids that screwed into each spool half; however, since I already had the jars printed, it didn't make sense. If you would like that as an option, let me know. Updates 2023-12-23 More, Better Labels In an effort to avoid in-laws, I disappeared into my office to “work” on making more labels. Also changed the extrusion to not go all the way through (small serifs/decorators were not coming off the print bed)
