The armored carrier lies on its side, metal hide buckled where something far stronger than its plating finally struck home. Emergency hatches are frozen mid-pop, tools and gear still clamped to the hull as if the crew might return any second. Now it serves as a jagged redoubt amid the smoking ruins, where scavengers and soldiers alike cling to its broken frame, gambling that whatever killed it will not come back to finish the job.
