sits under the rubber feet as to spread out the force across a larger area, works very well on fine carpets probably fits a lot of printers, main job is to stop the printer sliding around on fine carpets, this leads to holes in the carpet over time as it wears a specific spot. in terms of printing quality, after a calibration run it seems to print slightly better but I wouldn't say any major improvements.
