About this 3D model
Aqara makes excellent sensors for home automation, but getting their door and window sensor (like the MCCGQ11LM) to work reliably on a roll-up garage door can be tricky. The typical side-mount setup—where the two sensor parts slide past each other—only works so well. As the door moves, the sensor often detects multiple false open/close events due to bouncing or vibration. You can add a delay in the Aqara app, but the minimum is one minute, leading to annoying notifications: "garage open" immediately, followed by "garage closed" a minute later. Plus, windy conditions can trigger false alerts from minor door movement.Bottom-mounting isn't ideal either, as it risks damage from impacts and can weaken the Zigbee signal. That's why I designed this simple print-in-place swing adapter—it solves these issues effortlessly! The swinging mechanism ensures smooth, reliable detection without bounces, delays, or wind interference. Mount it high on the door for optimal performance, and enjoy instant, accurate notifications in your smart home setup (compatible with Home Assistant, HomeKit, Alexa, and more).
