About this 3D model

Clock with a Coup Perdu escapement and battery powered rewind mechanism. Coup Perdu is French for "lost beat" meaning the escapement moves one time for a complete back and forth cycle of the pendulum. This allows the second hand to move 60 times per minute with a 1/2 second pendulum. The clock rewinds itself every few minutes using a small N20 motor and two AA batteries. Runtime estimates are around 6 months. The remaining electronics are a magnetic reed switch and a 2AA battery holder. All these parts are easy to find online. The clock works as either a desktop or a wall mounted clock. The dial is the largest component at 173x173mm. This allows the clock to be printed on a Prusa Mini or larger. The total print time is around 90 hours using just over 1kg of PLA. The clock shown in the images was printed using MatterHackers blue raspberry Quantum PLA. A video of the clock in action can be seen at https://youtu.be/0dTbv5hlVlA The detailed assembly guide can be downloaded before purchase from https://www.stevesclocks.com/sp8 A discussion forum for questions during the build or to show off your work is at https://www.stevesclocks.com/forum 23-Dec-2022 Update: Added an optional file motor_switch_cover_plastic.stl that has a larger opening to support a larger (and less fragile) plastic reed switch. They are often labeled as 3mm by 3mm by 14mm in size.
