I wanted to design a beautiful, rose-themed gift box for Valentine's day - and this is what I came up with. The box features an intricately designed rose atop a cozy patterned lid. The lid is a friction fit design which easily slides on, and has enough grip to sustain a few bumps and shakes in case it moves around during transport. There's enough room inside to stow some jewelry, small trinkets, or even some treats! Not only does this serve as a gift box, but it can be kept and used as a lovely desk organizer - so your loved one will have something to remember you by! This is an easy print, with supports under the lid that pop right off and require no post processing. CUSTOMIZING A few profiles have been provided to help you color coordinate your prints without wasting filament through swaps. The model is designed so that the base and lid can be printed in the same color, with a different color for the rose - with only one filament swap. A third profile has been provided in case you want a different color for the base; this profile will print BY OBJECT to limit wastage. Some suggestions: The rose looks absolutely stunning in Silk Dual Color The overall model also looks quite classy in all white A black lid and base looks quite bold with a red rose The rose in a glow or translucent filament would also look quite interesting Different color combinations PRINT SETTINGS 0.2mm layer height works well Examples were printed in Bambu PLA Matte, Silk, and Carbon Fiber - all worked well. There is 0.07mm tolerance between the lid and base - be wary of this if scaling the model If you get any “hair” this can easily be removed by flashing them with a lighter. SUPPORTS The lid requires normal supports, on build plate only Top Z distance: 0.23mm Support/object xy distance: 2mm This will generate supports underneath the lid, which can easily be removed with a scraper if it doesn't automatically pop off when you remove the print from the plate (shown below). No supports or cleanup are needed for the rose. Support structure will pop off easily if the above settings (or designer profile) are used. PROFILES I've provided a few profiles for different ways to print, including: 2 color print (shown here) 1 color print for no AMS or simplified print 3 color print, allows you to set a 3rd color on the base without wasting filament through changes - this is printed BY OBJECT
