Whoever catches the Yellow Curse is doomed. Within minutes, a violent fever erupts. Painful cough twists the body, dry at first, bloody later. A few hours later, the sick falls unconscious, and before the sun rises again, they succumb to the illness. The lucky ones have beloved around them that know the signs and are willing and capable of doing the only thing left that can snatch them out of the claws of the Yellow Curse: a quick, merciful death by the blade or by blunt trauma. Poison won't help as it will only feed the illness and make it more violent. Those who are not saved arise again soon as mindless minions of the Yellow King. Their former self eradicated, their will bound entirely to their new master. Among them are some that he deems worthy of a worse fate. It is unknown how he selects those poor souls. Some say he searches for particularly resilient individuals, others say he punishes great warriors that dared to resist him, and that he has left a small part of their consciousness intact, trapped in a shell that is no longer their own. Their task is to protect their master at all cost and with complete and utter disregard for their own health. They catch mighty blows with their limbs and jump in front of projectiles, their bodies ever regrowing around the wounds they suffer.
