About this 3D model
Here is a great stellated dodecahedron with a hole in one pyramid that serves as a point for hanging. A related polyhedron, the first stellation of the icosahedron, is also included. The great stellated dodecahedron is usually constructed from 12 pentagrams with 3 meeting at each vertex. However the method used here replaces each face of an icosahedron with a scaleable trigonal pyramid; a variation of the method used in thing:193876 - Great Dodecahedron as Ornament. A number of well known polyhedra can be constructed using different scale factors. They include the great dodecahedron, the decahedron, a Catalan solid called the triakis icosahedron, the first stellation of the icosahedron, (this is a "reversal" of the great dodecahedron) and the great stellated dodecahedron. See the openSCAD code.
