The origins of the N.V.Ú. group date back to 1986 with the new wave group Manichinace, which, however, did not function for long. In 1987, a more punk-oriented band called Kmitací Adapter was formed, whose members, after several changes, performed as N.V.Ú. from 1988 onwards. They gained greater recognition, not only in Hradec Králové, after successfully making recordings. At that time, N.V.Ú. did not yet play pure punk, but sounded more like a more metal-influenced Die Toten Hosen.
