About this 3D model
This is a DIY gaffer’s glass designed to hold standard welding-goggle lenses, giving filmmakers and lighting technicians an affordable, practical tool for checking and balancing light sources. The model is compatible with 2" (50mm) round welding lenses, commonly used in Flip-Up Welder Safety Specs. For my own use, I prefer Shade 10 lenses, as Shade 5 tends to be a bit too light when looking directly at powerful film lights such as HMIs, LEDs, or tungsten fixtures. However, the shade level is entirely up to your preference and working environment—any standard 2" welding lens should fit this print. The 3D-printed body is simple and durable. It’s ideal for filmmakers, gaffers, sparks, and DIY lighting enthusiasts who want a customisable, budget-friendly alternative to commercial gaffer’s glasses.
