Intended for 3d print. Swedish WW2-era pistol. The Pistol M/40 was a virtual copy of the Finnish Lahti L-35, which was in turn visually, if not mechanically, similar to the German Luger P08. Sweden had originally intended to adopt the German Walther P38 as its new standard army sidearm, but only a paltry 1500 P38s had been delivered by the time Germany invaded Poland and subsequently halted all export to fill domestic demand. Sweden instead settled on manufacturing the Lahti L-35 under licence (incidentally, the licence arrangement was due to Finland shifting all its arms production to domestic use due to the ongoing Winter War against the Soviet Union. You may notice a trend in Sweden's near abroad at the time...). The Pistol M/40 was an adequate, if heavy (and arguably inferior to the Walther P38), sidearm for the army, and around 80.000 copies were produced by Husqvarna between 1940 and the end of its production run in 1946. The pistols remained in use until the 1980s, though cracks in the pistol barrels had made them unreliable towards the end of their service life. ------------------------------- This model pack includes two versions of the pistol: One standard low-fidelity copy of the original pistol, and one reinforced version for printing at small scales suitable for tabletop miniature games. Note that while reasonably similar to the actual gun, this is in no way a believable replica. You'll notice there are obvious dissimilarities, like the handle being more square-shaped than the original. The models are more geared towards use as toys, decoration or tabletop miniature guns. You can easily alter the size of the models to your heart´s content in your slicer prior to printing. Note that none of the models are currently pre-supported. I personally find that this gives the customer more flexibility, since you can easily add supports yourself prior to printing. Instructions are available online by simply googling them. Still, if you want me to upload presupported versions of the models, send me a request and I'll do it free of charge. My understanding the length of a real-life Pistol M/40 is appx 26 cm (10.3 inches). So if you do want to print a life-sized model, scale it up to this size. You´ll likely have to cut the model across the beginning of the barrel and print the model as two separate parts in order to fit it inside your printer space.
