Padaung Long Neck Women Sculpture The Padaung’s famous long-necked women wear brass coils around their necks. A symbol of wealth, position and beauty, the coils can stretch their necks over a foot and weigh over 20 pounds. Several hundred Padaung live along the Thai-Myanmar border. Some fled to Burma to escape war. Most travelled to Thailand to make money displaying themselves to tourists. In Nao Soi and Mae Hong Son Thailand, visitors pay to be driven to a village where they can take photographs of the long necked women. This model is a replica of wooden sculpture created by the Padaung tribe. No supports are required.
