APPEASE YOUR INNER RICER This cosmetic mod is for you if you are looking for a reversible and non-destructive way to chrome delete your Tesla Model 3 Highland. I tried plasti-dip prior to this and wasn't able to achieve a clean finish, probably due to the thinness of the logos. Print on textured PEI or one of those fancy holographic plates to achieve a nice texture on the letters. Warping shouldnt be a big concern since these parts are not load bearing. I personally used PLA+ and have not noticed any ill-effects after 3 weeks in and out of the sun. For those not using bambu / orca slicers for whatever reason: 0.2mm layer height 0.55mm initial layer width 1 wall on first layer 3 bottom shell layers (IMPORTANT!!) Arachne wall generator (IMPORTANT!!) Ironing on all top surfaces - 22% flow, 60mm/s speed - a smooth surface is a must or your adhesive will not work properly Infill - doesnt matter. There wont be any. Installation Tips Inspect printed parts and remove any burrs / printing defects (if any). Reprint if necessary (you can split the model into individual objects in the slicer and print only the parts you need). The top of the A and the E look similar, but dimensions are slightly different. Mark the top of the A with a sharpie on a discreet spot on the back so you can easily tell which is which. Test the fit of the pieces over the original emblem. A 0.4mm tolerance has been designed into the components so you shouldn't run into any issues, but test the fit anyway just to be sure. You will need some double-sided acrylic foam tape. 3M produces some specifically for automotive applications (3M VHB). Thickness of the tape i used was 0.9mm. +/- 0.1mm should be fine since the tape can be compressed. I personally used this acrylic foam tape from Daiso (Japanese dollar store), which is holding up fine. Probably cheaper to buy the roll of 3M tape in the long run though. Cut tape into strips and paste on printed components. Don't worry if the adhesive strips don't perfectly fill up the printed parts. This stuff is sticky AF, so you should be fine. Clean the original TESLA emblems to ensure the tape sticks well. You can use some IPA after cleaning to ensure that the surface is free of oil and grease. Remove plastic liner from adhesive strips with a toothpick and apply over original emblems. Disclaimer The above modifications are meant to be non-permanent and non-destructive.
