Howdy! I've always enjoyed mechanical print in place models. Howdy is my attempt at a fun to make, (almost) support free mechanical design that doesn't look like it should print in place. This model utilizes the overhang and bridging abilities of your printer to create a really impressive assembly free mechanism! There is a dual color profile as well as a simplified profile with only face color. Both operate identically and make great desktop items. Follow these steps to free the mechanism after printing: 1. Pull the two support tabs off the large gear. 2. Carefully push the main gear up from the bottom to free it from the mounting arms. 3. Use a scraper to gently loosen the pivot arm. 4. Press firmly into the top of the crank handle to pop the drive gear loose. You'll hear a click and the crank will then rotate freely. This may take some force to free up, so don't be afraid to give it a good press. Your Howdy is now ready to go! Remember that this is a difficult stress test, so your bridges and overhangs may be unsightly. I hope you enjoy this model and feel free to give your feedback!
