Known for its short, blunt skull filled with sharp teeth, this carnivore measured around 6 meters (20 feet) in length. Its name, meaning “scorpion hunter,” references the scorpions commonly found in its fossil dig site. Skorpiovenator belonged to the abelisaurid family, characterized by its robust limbs and reduced forelimbs. Likely an agile hunter, it roamed semi-arid landscapes, preying on smaller dinosaurs and other animals. Its discovery adds insight into South America’s unique dinosaur ecosystem.
