About this 3D model
Available sizes Large – 1:35 of the actual size | Normal, Hollow & Pre-supported versions Description Mammut americanum, commonly known as the American mastodon, was a large proboscidean that roamed North America during the late Pleistocene, up until about 10,000 years ago. Standing up to 3 meters tall at the shoulder and weighing around 8 tons, it resembled modern elephants but had straighter, shorter tusks and a more heavily muscled build. Its molars were adapted for chewing coarse vegetation such as leaves, twigs, and conifer branches, distinguishing it from the grass-eating mammoths. Mastodons thrived in forests and woodlands and often fell prey to human hunting. Their extinction coincided with climate change and the spread of early humans.
