Reaching lengths of up to 4 meters, it was one of the apex predators of its freshwater ecosystems in what is now Pennsylvania, USA. Hyneria had a massive skull, large fangs, and powerful jaws, allowing it to prey on smaller fish and early tetrapods venturing onto land. Its lobe-fins suggest it could maneuver in shallow waters, ambushing prey.
