UPDATED 18/04/13 with correct disk brake pattern on top / base.STL, please re-download the correct file, if you downloaded before above date. A quick idea for a simple dynamo powered windmill. UNTESTED. Using 2 SP dynamo hubs with built in sealed bearing, some 9mm rod, some wood and your 3D printer, we can make a VAWT or water wheel to power a lighting system and recharge system, for 12v battery and USB. we can mount the fan body to the disk brake mount on the dynamo hub x2, push the rod through and lock it down with the dual locknuts, the bearing in the hubs take the load, the 9mm rod stays still and the fan moves the outside of the hubs around on the bearings. we use one hub and fan on bottom and one hub and fan on top, put in as many middle fans you need to get the power needed to turn the hubs. you could use the spacer.stl to add extra support with extra bearings if needed if you make a big stack of them. still need to add bearing retainer into spacer.stl if I do that. Have easy circuits for ya to boost up to 10w output from each dynamo, so 20w max limit for this unit. have easy lighting circuits and charger systems that a monkey could build...but first we test the genny. its still just a idea...not sure of how much power the fans can take from a given wind speed, or how high I will need to stack it to get the power I want. or if I made my fans too small and have too many of them...gota start some where to tweek I guess. Made to print on my soon to turn up UP printer, it is 130mm round / 100mm high, not sure if it will warp, UNTESTED. So I think just build a water wheel that I hope to use for wind...guess I will find out if it works soon when my printer gets here, please test and report if built! Cheers ktronik
