The Americans were aware of the development of unguided rocket launchers in WW2 - the Russian Katyusha, the German Nebelwefer, and the British/Canadian Land Mattress. Their developments in this field included their Calliope tank mounted launchers, the T27 Xylophone launchers, as well as this model, the T66 4.5" multi-launcher. The T66 was first employed in 1945 on both the Western theatre as well as in the Pacific theatre and later in the Korean conflict. The T66 fired the M16 fin stabilizer rocket projectile, from a bank of 24 tubes, arranged in three rows of eight tubes, each launching a 45 lbs projectile with a range of 5 kms.
