"Benefactor, counsellor, friend, founder of the chairs of Physiology 1891, Pathology 1894." says the inscription on this commemorative portrait relief of George Holt (1825–1896). Holt was a merchant from Liverpool, who also founded the Lamport and Holt shipping line in 1845.
