I wanted a basket-ish feel, that kind of woven style, which always appeals to me, for that homespun aesthetic (I'd already decided I was doing this in a shade of light brown), but I also wanted to prod further at my love for polyhedra. So, we have this dodecahedron with sunken facets that are rendered into stars. That tension that exists in woven baskets is what really gets me - single strands filling space by pushing and pulling against itself, and I was going for that kind of sensibility in the star facets, at least when I started. That said, I certainly wasn't trying to emulate weaving itself, so there's no over-and-under, just solid elements coming together smoothly.
