In 1424 the sculptor and architect Michelozzo, and the sculptor Donatello, formed a partnership that lasted for nine years. This partnership allowed them to achieve and produce important works of art in bronze and marble, requring them to have managerial skills towards their partnership and timescales for projects. The Madonna and Child dates to this period and keeps it's original plaster relief in the wodden frame, however it has lost the polychromy it once had.
